Pediatric Infectious Diseases - Position 1

 Seeking a board certified pediatrician who is also board certified/eligible in pediatric infectious diseases.  Responsibilities will include:  Both inpatient and outpatient consultations and care of children with/potential infectious diseases, pursue personal interests in either clinical or laboratory based research, and teach medical students and residents. 

The successful candidate must possess excellent organizational,interpersonal and communication skills.  Desired experience includes previous graduate medical education teaching and an interest in growing our pediatric infectious diseases clinical practice.

Genetics

The candidate must possess excellent clinical diagnostic skills and teaching experience at all levels of medical education. Candidate will be expected to demonstrate the ability to conduct independent basic, clinical, or epidemiologic research. Position requires providing both outpatient and inpatient consultations and sharing call responsibilities. The candidate will also have administrative and leadership responsibilities for the outpatient genetics clinic, which includes the supervision of several genetic counselors.

 The successful candidate must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Desired experience includes previous graduate medical education teaching and an interest in growing our clinical genetics program. Experience with grant writing and publication is also strongly desired.

Pediatric Hematology/Oncology 

Seeking to add a fourth member to the division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Department of Pediatrics and Human Development in the College of Human Medicine (CHM). This physician will provide both inpatient and outpatient medical care to hematology/oncology patients in the mid-Michigan area as well as in field clinics in the Upper Peninsula and Alma. The division is a member of the Children's Oncology Group (COG) and a participant of the federally funded MSU Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders. Members of the divisions actively contribute to the teaching programs of the College and the pediatric residency program. The Department mandates that the members of this academic division actively participate in COG clinical trials, and pursue independent scholarly research interests. 

The applicant must be board eligible/board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology and must have/obtain a Michigan Medical License. Ideally will have 3 - 5 years of clinical experience caring for children and adolescents in Hematology/Oncology, have an interest/experience teaching at the various levels of medical education, and have a research interest.

Pediatric Residency Program Director

Michigan State University and Sparrow Hospital seek an MD/DO board-certified pediatrician at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor to serve as the Pediatric Residency Program Director in Lansing, Michigan. The Pediatric Residency Program is fully accredited through both the American College of Graduate Medical Education and the American Osteopathic Association, and approved for a total of 24 residents. Two Associate/Assistant Directors support the Program Director.

Assigned Duties:

The role includes 0.5 FTE protected effort for administrative and educational activities related to the residency program. General duties are described in the ACGME Pediatric Program Requirements.This includes but is not limited to oversight
of the clinical and didactic educational experiences of residents, faculty development, and duty hour monitoring. The Program Director also serves as liaison between the university's two departments of pediatrics, Sparrow Hospital administration, accrediting
and certifying agencies, other institutional departments, faculty, and residents. The remaining 0.5 FTE will be devoted to a combination of clinical activity, scholarly work, and non-GME educational assignments as assigned by the Chair of the College of
Human Medicine's Department of Pediatrics and Human Development.

Qualifications other than degree:

Candidates must hold current certification from the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics and/or a pediatric subspecialty, and be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Michigan and medical staff privileges at participating institutions.
The successful candidate must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal and communication skills, graduate medical education teaching experience, and a working knowledge of ACGME pediatric residency training requirements.

Demonstrated expertise in the following areas is appreciated:

medical education leadership, faculty development, curricular development, use of evaluation systems, and scholarly activity including grant writing.
