Dr. Kyung-Sun Kang receives 2011 Joon S. Moon Distinguished International Alumni Award

Dr. Kyung-Sun Kang, now of Seoul National University (SNU), Seoul, Korea, has been awarded the 2011 Joon S. Moon Distinguished International Alumni Award from International Studies and Programs, Michigan State University. The award ceremony is from 3-5 pm, March 23, 2011, at the Spartan Club in Spartan Stadium.

The award recognizes distinguished achievements of eminent alumni who came to MSU as international students. It recognizes individuals for outstanding leadership and contributions in or to the international field or communities, organizations, companies, agencies, individuals, and/or governments internationally. Other criteria include demonstrated sustained commitment to international activities and public service.

MSU leads statewide alliance in launching children’s study in Wayne County

Michigan State University - leading an alliance of the state's top research universities, health care systems and health agencies - is launching the National Children's Study in Wayne County, one of 30 pilot sites nationwide for the largest human health study ever undertaken. The Michigan Alliance for the National Children's Study is receiving $75.5 million for the study, which will document the effects of the social and physical environment on children's health from pregnancy to age 21. Nigel Paneth, MD, MPH, a pediatrician and perinatal epidemiologist with the College of Human Medicine is the MANCS principal investigator.
