Mona Hanna-Attisha, MD, MPH, named director of Hurley Pediatric Residency Program

Mona Hanna-Attisha, MD, MPH, has been named director of Hurley Pediatric Residency Program in Flint.

In her previous position as associate director of the pediatric program at Children’s Hospital, Hanna-Attisha supervised 100 residents, developed a longitudinal curriculum, implemented an online education platform, helped to recruit and select residents, and helped in key residency program committees. She was an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Wayne State University School of Medicine.

In addition to a medical degree from MSU College of Human Medicine, she holds a master of public health degree from the University of Michigan.

Four faculty members honored at CHM Awards Ceremony

Four current and emeritus faculty members of the MSU Department of Pediatrics and Human Development were among those honored at the College of Human Medicine's Annual Faculty Awards on May 26, 2011.

The Teacher-Scholar Award was received by Sathyanarayan Sudhanthar, MD, assistant professor, and presented by Dele Davies MD, chairperson of the department. The Outstanding Community Faculty Award was received by Raghunandana Kasetty MD, assistant professor, who was not able to attend the ceremony. The Lester J. Evans MD College of Human Medicine Distinguished Service Award was presented to William B. Weil MD, FAAP, professor, by Marsha D. Rappley MD, dean. Then Dr. Weil in turn presented the William B. Weil Jr., MD, FAAP, Endowed Distinguished Pediatric Faculty Award to Jane L. Turner MD, FAAP, professor.
