Our pediatric hematology/oncology clinics are located at the Sparrow Professional Building in Suite #145, and provide care to patients with disorders listed above. Additionally, physicians provide inpatient services at Sparrow Regional Children’s Center. The Bleeding and Clotting Disorder Clinic is located at the MSU Clinical Center. An outreach clinic, serving the entire upper peninsula of Michigan, is based at Marquette General Hospital and occurs approximately once per month.
Clinical trials for children and adolescents are done at Michigan State University and Sparrow Health System in cooperation with the Children's Oncology Group/CureSearch (COG), led by Renuka Gera, MD, Principal Investigator for the Children’s Oncology Group. This cooperative group includes all pediatric oncologists in the United States and in several foreign countries. Most clinical trials are open to individuals from birth to age 21 years who meet disease and study specific eligibility criteria. Some COG clinical trials are more age specific or include individuals up to the age of 26 years or 30 years (for example, brain tumors and bone tumors).
The list of COG clinical trials frequently changes. For up-to-date information or to discuss the specifics of a clinical trial, please contact one of the pediatric oncologists, Renuka Gera, MD, Roshni Kulkarni, MD, Elna Saah, MD, or Ajovi Scott-Emuakpor, MD, PhD.
