Off campus rotations can be set up after approval of the program director and the medical director.

Research Project

Over the three years residents are required to do a research project of their choice and present during Grand Rounds in the 3rd year of residency. This can be a clinical research, chart reviews, or a published project.

Child Advocacy Curriculum

Over the three years residents get involved with child advocacy of their choice. The curriculum starts with assignments in the 1st year and progresses to the 3rd year of residency and a presentation

Protected Conference Style Didactics

Didactics are every Thursday morning 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
7 - 8 a.m. - Morning report, interesting cases, pediatric in review jeopardy
8 - 9 a.m. - Grand Rounds
9 -10:30 a.m. - Subspecialty, Journal Club
10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Lectures.

Night Float 2nd & 3rd Years

During the senior years of residency a night float system is set up to cover the pediatric ward. Each senior is scheduled for 4 different weeks of call over the year. They are on call for shifts 6 p.m.-7 a.m. Sunday night to Thursday night. The resident has no other commitments during the week. The weekend calls and back up calls for seniors are a rotating schedule that the chief resident does each rotation.
