We define fever as a temperature of more than 100.4 degrees Farenheit (or 38 degrees Celsius).

Fever is part of the body’s response to infection and is generally not harmful, even at temperatures of 103 F or higher.

However, there are times when you may want to give your child with a fever medication to make him or her more comfortable. We have included below the correct dosages of the two common fever-reducing medications for children of different weights.

We generally recommend that children under 3 months with fever be evaluated immediately. Children over 3 months should be evaluated if they have fever more than 3 days or sooner if needed.
