An ongoing collaboration with Wayne State University School of Medicine and Children's Hospital of Michigan, Pediatric Research Day is Pediatrics and Human Development tradition going back almost two decades. This one-day event, open to medical students, graduate students, residents, postdocs, fellows, and faculty, was conceived by Pediatrics and Human Development faculty BV Madhukar and Rachel Fisher as a means of encouraging interest in research by providing medical students the opportunity to attend a scientific conference and by conntecting them with basic scientists performing research relevant to their field. Wayne State joined on as a partner shortly after inception and ever since our two schools have worked together to strengthen relationships between clinical and basic researchers and to promote appreciation of the basic sciences in the medical community.
